Duplex 2205 Flanges are widely known to show excellent resistance to corrosive environments. This is because they comprise austenite and ferrite at the ratio of 50:50.
Adding to this, you would also see its use case in scenarios where high strength is considered. They show excellent strength characteristics.
Adding to this, Alloy 2205 blind flange also shows excellent strength and corrosion resistance properties; which are exceptional. This is the only reason why they resist acids and alkalis; such as Sulphuric acids. They even resist strong reducing acids and hot chlorides.
There are industrial standards that demand for SAF 2205 slip on flange, mainly because they resist extreme corrosion resistance scenario. In applications where intergranular corrosion must be eradicated, we use this flange. Adding to this, they even exhibit stress corrosion cracking resistance capability.
Customer, on the other hand, also look for temperature tolerance of alloy 2205 forged flange. At temperature condition above 5720F, it is not a suitable use case as it undergoes embrittlement. So, very important to note that the operating temperature conditions must be less than 5720F.
Also, the minimum temperature condition for UNS S31803 reducing flange can go more down to -500C. This is mainly because it exhibits better ductile nature when comparing with other martensitic and ferric grades.

Duplex 2205 flanges have excellent corrosion resistance. They exhibit significant intergranular corrosion resistance. SAF 2205 blind flanges provide extremely strong resistance to stress corrosion cracking even in chloride and sulphide conditions.
